Kiajaroovah

Club Sporadic

Sat, 21 May 2005

Kiajaroovah next who come in hard straight away – wild guitars and drums and distorted vocal splattered across the mix. They have a busier internal texture than the previous band but inhabit a similar territory of collective power where the vocals are used for their granularity rather than verbal comprehension. In the great tradition of the blues and rock n roll? Often in the best of these musics the grammatical meaning of the vocals is subordinate to the emotional power of hollers, whoops etc. Voice used as instrument. Kiajaroovah remind me of a long gone local band called ‘Potatohead’ who were a bunch of inspired lunatics playing postpostpostpunk or something with the same edge and use of vocals riding the electricity. Loud! When they finished – ears were ringing! This is powerhouse stuff – and not easy to follow!

...so did you write the review then jr? Not that I think for a minute you'll see this all the way down here where the "old news" hangs out, consoling itself that once, not so long ago, it was contemporary and "hip" and maybe even "Vital". Down this end of the page is where bored bass players try to stretch the thinest of analogies, in a futile attempt to get the blood rushing back to the braincells after a near coma inducing conversation with the stupendously moronic sister that causes me to question the very building blocks of life. Nature/Nurture, and so forth.

Nope. You should be able to follow the link to Plexus. I keep finding new bruises and scrapes after Saturday night. The most impressinve ones are on the back of my leg and consist of two vicious looking cuts that correspond with two nice tears in my trousers.

I still have a very vivid vision of marv lying face down on that roof trying to get to the stairs, then discarding his poncho as some passing random chap, who was obviously in need of a poncho, passed by and went "oh, ta" picked it up and sodded off. I am also amazed we got back in one peice. Any idea where my bass went? Last I saw dex was carrying it off into the sunrise.

What on earth is all this eh? Goodness, I have reached the netherworld of Kiajaroovah, full of odd little tales about no doubt VERY drunken escapades. You lot make me sick!

Ha!...to compound my sorry state of disrepair, I got stung on the eyelid by an interdimensional teleporting space wasp today. It just seemed to materialise out of thin air, between my eye and my glasses, sting me, then just sat there gloating 'til I had the presence of mind to brush it away. So anyway, I killed it and then I killed it's little friend. My eye socket now hurts, though the swelling is going down.

Jr is now going on a one man crusade, comitting the foulest kind of genocide....insectacide! Run stripey wasps, run (or more accurately fly). There be a lumbering beast after you.
